Christian Camp Courageous 2024: Engineering For GOD and GOOD! - Recap

Written by: Arian L. Tyler, Director of Communications & Community Development

What an incredible week it was at Christian Camp Courageous this past August! From exploring the wonders of God's creation to building robots with a purpose, our 25 campers and 15 dedicated volunteers experienced a truly transformative summer adventure.

This year's theme, "Engineering for GOD and GOOD!", inspired us all to connect our faith with STEM learning in exciting new ways. We dove into the Bible's creation story, discovering God as the ultimate engineer. We learned about Christian innovators who used their skills to make a positive impact on the world. And we put our knowledge into action through hands-on projects, field trips, and collaborative challenges.

Our campers had the chance to explore the universe at the planetarium, unleash their creativity at the Children's Museum, and enjoy a fun movie outing. We even transformed our camp into a bustling construction zone as teams built incredible robots for the final showcase! It was truly amazing to witness their teamwork, problem-solving skills, and passion for engineering shine through.

Beyond the robots, campers embraced their artistic sides with crafts like painting birdhouses and upcycling tree stumps into beautiful works of art. They also put their engineering skills to the test with brain challenges like designing blueprints for community improvements and constructing towering marshmallow structures. The friendly competition culminated in a refreshing water balloon fight, creating laughter and memories that will last a lifetime.

We were particularly proud of our Challenger and Conqueror classrooms, who took their commitment to service beyond the campgrounds. They embarked on a community clean-up in Brighton, collecting over 10 bags of trash and demonstrating their dedication to caring for God's creation.

We're so proud of all our campers for their hard work and dedication throughout the week. A special shoutout goes to Jaiden, Channon, Nicholas, and Jaidah for being recognized as Outstanding Campers! Their enthusiasm, leadership, and commitment to serving others truly embodied the spirit of Camp Courageous.

And let's not forget Angela, who wowed us all with her knowledge and quick thinking, winning the jackpot prize on our final quiz! It was a testament to the incredible learning that happened throughout the week.

From exciting Bingo to the thrill of building robots, every moment was filled with laughter, friendship, and spiritual growth. We are so grateful to our amazing volunteers, whose selfless dedication made this camp possible.

As we reflect on this incredible week, we're filled with joy and gratitude. Camp Courageous 2024 was a true testament to the power of faith, the joy of learning, and the impact we can make when we use our gifts to serve others.

We can't wait to see what amazing things these young engineers will accomplish in the future!

None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our volunteers, donors, and drivers. Your generosity, time, and dedication made Camp Courageous 2024 an unforgettable experience for our campers. From leading activities to providing transportation to ensuring everyone was well-fed and cared for, your contributions were invaluable. Thank you for sharing your talents and passion with us!
